The Department of Conservation have contracted Downer & Hauraki Piling Ltd to construct a new wharf for Rangitoto Island Ferry Terminal.
Downer are managing the project, and Hauraki Piling are constructing the new wharf. The new wharf has a walkway length of 85 metres to the wharf head which measures 40 metres x 11 metres. The wharf is made up of painted steel casing bottom driven, filled with sand/concrete & reinforcing with a precast concrete superstructure. All components have to be delivered by barge to the site progressively as the work proceeds. There is a total of over 2000 tonnes of materials to be delivered.
The wharf is now open.
